Almost Wild Camping
Bushcraft campsite set in 7 acres of privately owned woodland
in the National Forest
WELCOME TO 'ALMOST WILD' BUSHCRAFT CAMPING
Unfortunately the camp site is now closed and will remain so until at least the end of June 2024. Despite the warnings about accessing the site by vehicle, and informing people that it was not possible, they decided to have a go anyway. There is significant damage to the entrance, basecamp and track which means the camping spots and walking across the campsite is near impossible. Once the ground has had chance to recover and I have repaired the damage I will update the website. Fingers crossed for some dry weather!
I've opened up my woodland to like minded people, those wanting to wild camp without the hassle of being asked to move on, in the middle of the night.
It will be open from mid May until the weather turns and ground conditions deteriorate. The entire Almost Wild Camping woodland will be yours for the duration of the stay, with the exception of the local wildlife and occasional rambler.
Pretty much anything goes, hammock, bivvy, traditional tents, roof tents - feel free to make a small fire, air rifles welcome (targets and plinkers scattered around the woods) and there is a pub nearby if it all gets too much.
The facilities are obviously very basic, no running water, no electricity so make sure you pack wisely. If conditions allow (usually good in the summer months) vehicle access is available too, at your own risk!
It's all a bit of a trial for me in 2023 so if all goes well, the facilities will improve and the booking system will be more automated and efficient.
